There is NO PARKING on any road maintained by the Town of Olean from November 1st - March 31st of any year. Snow plowing regulation.
§1219. Article 1219 of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law makes it illegal to plow, shovel, or blow snow into a street or highway. This law also covers other items likely to pose a hazard to motorists, including GRASS and LEAVES, glass, nails, wire, cans, etc. Fines for a first offense include up to a $150 fine and/or 15 days in jail, plus applicable surcharges. This law also stipulates that anyone that places or permits to be placed upon any highway any material which interferes with the safe use of the highway shall immediately remove the same or cause it to be removed. This includes grass and snow! If you are a homeowner and you hire a person to mow your lawn or plow your driveway, and you permit him/her to blow the grass/leaves or plow the snow into the road, you could be cited under this law.” All roads maintained by the Town of Olean are posted for an 8-ton weight limit. Any individual or corporation intending to operate a vehicle with a gross weight of 8 or more tons is required to file an application for a Temporary Exemption Permit with the Highway Superintendent. No hauling will be permitted without a proper permit and financial security. This policy is strictly enforced to protect the roadways within the Town of Olean. |
